Dr. Dibakar Datta is currently a tenure-track assistant professor (Sept. 2016 - present) at the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Newark College of Engineering, New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), Newark, USA.
He finished his Ph.D. (Sept. 2010 - Jan. 2015) at Brown University under the direction of Prof. Vivek B Shenoy. His major is Mechanics of Solids & Structures and minors are Physics & Chemistry. While at Brown, he was also a visiting researcher at The Laboratory for Research on the Structure of Matter (LRSM), The University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA.
He got an opportunity for his postdoctoral training (Mar. 2015-Aug. 2016) in Mechanics and Computation at Stanford University. He came to the United States after completing his studies in India ( IIEST - Shibpur, IISc - Bangalore), Spain (BarcelonaTech-Barcelona), and France (Ecole Centrale-Nantes, EDF -Paris). He is interested in Interdisciplinary Research integrating ideas from different disciplines, but keeping the epicenter at Mechanics and Materials Science.
