I was born and grew up in a remote village in West Bengal, India. I first saw a computer at the age of 18 and first wrote an email at 21. During those days, I never thought, not even in my dream, that one day I would study in the world's top institutions.
Surrounding with smart and inspiring people is as important as being talented or hardworking. Fortunately, right from my undergrad, I was very lucky to have great and inspiring teachers and seniors at every stage of my life. They made me whatever I am today. Here I acknowledge some selected people who have direct influence in my life.
- I have no proper word to thank my academic father Dr. Vivek B. Shenoy. He is undoubtedly one of the greatest living polymaths of the world. He generously gave me an opportunity to study under his guidance at Brown. Throughout my Ph.D., he continuously inspired me. He kept confidence in me even when I was not productive. Moreover, Shenoy Research Group is truly amazing. Everyone helps each other, and one will automatically get inspiration to do better work. Stimulating and engaging discussion during group meeting really gives a lot of fundamental insight. Thank you, BOSS!
- I am indebted to Dr. Wei Cai for giving me an opportunity to work with him at Stanford. He is a great scholar and an amazing adviser. I am forever grateful to him.
- I have no proper word to thank my master adviser at IISc Dr. C. S. Manohar for his excellent guidance.
- Special thanks to all my teachers all over the world right from my undergrad.
- I have no word to thank Dr. Kalyan Kumar Bhar (IIEST Shibpur) for 'saving my life.' He helped me without knowing me when I badly needed help during my second year of undergrad.
Thanks,
Dibakar Datta
